-Ventilate rooms. Open windows and allow air to circulate during the entire cleaning process.
-Wash your hands before and after cleaning. Use soap and water, and scrub for at least 20 seconds.
-Wear masks and disposable gloves while cleaning. Dispose of gloves after cleaning and wash your hands after removing gloves.
-Clean surfaces before disinfecting. Use soap or detergent and water to remove dirt and other impurities. Then, disinfect using chemicals like bleach or alcohol to kill germs.
-Use approved disinfectants. Most common disinfectants registered by the Environmental Protection Agency
are believed to be effective against the coronavirus. Diluted household bleach solutions and cleaning products with at least 70% alcohol are also believed to be effective.

Pay special attention to the contact time required for the disinfectant to be effective. The contact time is listed on the product label.
-Follow instructions for using cleaning supplies. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or other cleaning supplies. Doing so can release toxic gasses. Remember to check the expiration date on your cleaning supplies.
-Pay special attention to frequently touched surfaces. A list is provided on Pages 2 and 3 however the
contents of each house may vary.
-Don’t forget about sofas, rugs, drapes, and other soft, porous surfaces.Remove visible dirt, then use appropriate cleaners for the material. If possible,machine-wash items according to manufacturer’s instructions. Disinfectant sprays are also believed to be effective.
-Wash linens at the highest heat setting recommended by the manufacturer. Bed sheets, mattress covers, hand and bath towels, kitchen towels and blankets.Wear gloves when handling dirty laundry.
-Empty the vacuum cleaner after every cleaning.Disinfect the vacuum cleaner surfaces.
